Whats Up

I have been doing some wedding freelance work. Surprising the amount of gigs I received winterwise.

Trying to keep immersed of recent in art since my graduation of Longwood University. As I apply to some Graduate school, I have been researching and practicing alternative process and digital experiments.

I was constructing a project of doing still lifes of decayed fruit and dead flowers and then print them alternatively perhaps a kallitype of something thing perhaps with a eating away feel to juxtapose the fruit.

Digitally I was playing around with photoshop techniques and constructing images from a none existent photo. Rather a collage take on photoshop but playing with the premise of 3d objects.

Then just recently I found myself high excited with Irving Penn’s Portraiture. Which has lead me to brush up on standard lighting technique and try some more traditional (none constructed) portraiture. But that’s what I like so much with Irving; his dynamic and expressive portraiture done by simple means. Richard Avedon Similarly effects me this way but Irving meets me with his fashion influence an less strict style of perspective and framing than that of Avedon.

Some creation of worlds in photoshop.

Just playing around with a collage of different works.

Some Wedding gig Photos.

Whats in the Life of Alex

Salutations!

I have completed my Bachelors of Fine Arts and now am working toward graduate schools.

Yay!

Excitement!

Jubilations!

I miss my lectures….

Looking into RISD, MICA, VCU, and Yale for graduate options.

Meanwhile I recently completed a wix website, most fun but heavily flash dependent

http://www.wix.com/alexanderleonhart/home

In other news the job market is rather elusive, so I am in the meantime doing stock, fine art, and commercial freelance between the applications

Exploring some random realms of HDR and book making in this indecisive weather.

And now a few images from HDR experimenting and some just random shots. From Philadelphia to Yellowstone.

Progression

It seems the constructions are becoming a bit more constructed . Finding locations, bringing a truck load of books, creating suspension of people or furniture all in a few days of summer abandoned house work. Through this I feel the work becoming more purest as well, which is nifty. If you are going to do a feat, really do it instead of create it from photoshop work.

The work is a collection performance art, found object, and fine art construction. On location scouting and sketching potential spaces through wayward exploration as well as take into account intriguing objects these spaces have to offer provide as brainstorm fuel. Then with composition is brainstorm freshly as with consult of the books of pipedreams and unrestrained imagination. Proceed to build. When building and shooting things change and there is a level of performance and improve. Then move onto post production, printing, and building and creation of the frames.

These works are on modern fables. Meaning ones that do not directly reference folklore but more allow the viewer to conceive their own narratives within the scene. The protagonist, a woman unifies the series with her presence within each piece. Humorously, the process of creating these work result in other stories as well.

(some new works and sketches; I am trying to decide between some shots

Basement Exploration Yo

A new model! A new semester! And a bit of basement exploration.

Well this semester didn’t have any buildings catch fire or bomb threats the first day…  so plus there. I am taking some art courses, one being illustration to which there will be blog posting of some of my special secret skills in drawing and painting! An abomination is about to be unleashed and uploaded that your eyes have never seen the likes of before!

So here are some new photos I took when not writing zombie apocalypse music or quirky comic books.
